Instruction

Our program provides authentic instruction in Mexican Folkloric Dance through the Performing Arts Department, providing a rich and rewarding opportunity to learn about the Mexican culture through music and dance. This program has served to enhance Latino student visibility and involvement in the performing arts and has also bridged the gap between home and school, with parent involvement and participation.

Currently three classes are offered during the school day through the Performing Arts Department with students receiving elective credit. Our three folklórico classes fulfill the requirement for University of California A-G list.

An after school program exist in the evening for our advanced students, graduates and community members. This class is a joint project with the SSF High School and the SSF Recreation Department. Students enrolled need the consent of the instructors. For more info visit WWW.SSF.NET

In order to have the best possible instruction, we have applied to the California Arts Council for the extra assistance of an Artist in Residence at our school site to assist
Mrs. Patricia Martinelli, the folklórico dance teacher, in developing authentic Mexican dances.

Our Artist in Residence, Mr. Martin Cruz, has elevated the level of instruction and has been a very effective role model for the young men and women in the program.
